Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth – The Main Ingredient

If you thought Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s first album was phat then their their second album, The Main Ingredient, will not disappoint. Similar to artists like A Tribe Called Quest, Brand Nubian and De La Soul, PR and CL constantly break new barriers by using obscure samples, transposedbreak beats, and funky keyboard baselines.

The lyrics that CL is flipping, are nice! Cuts like “Searching” and “The Main Ingredient” showcasse a lyrical style that few can match. It’s like he rhymes with a 'run on sentence type of flow,' using a vast quantity of uncommonly used words from the English Language. From the B-Boy perspective to an intellectual scholar, CL's lyrics will take you on a fantastic voyage. I can’t forget about my man Pete Rock. Not only is he an outstanding producer and turntable technician but, his microphone skills are symbol of B-Boy elegance. He has an off-beat style, but throughout his share of lyrical input, he’s on-point with his lyrical skills.

The whole album is worth the money and then some! If you haven’t got this one then get it now! It is one of the most outstanding Hip-Hop albums this year. The Main Ingredient is an ingredient that you need for your Hip-Hop collection - that is if you know your Hip-Hop.
