The hook on the track “Stay Up”, “Never enough food on my plate,” symbolizes the hustle that JDK Daundaboss applies to his music career and life. No stranger to the grind and hustle, JDK has five studio albums and even runs his own magazine called The Sac Report. His current album The New Agenda, is independently released on his Need It Now Records label and distributed by the infamous Empire music distribution company. He has also worked with several of Sacramento and Northern California’s finest such as Mistah F.A.B, King Kahali (R.I.H), Sann Quinn, Goldfingaz, Marvaless and Bueno to name a few.

“Stay Up,” featuring Liq, AKA Liq Sto, tells the story of how one decides their own fate by their determination to survive. The lyrical metaphors of an insatiable appetite help to figuratively and literally, deliver JDK’s message – “Feeling Hungry but I just ate / Never enough food on my plate.” The track itself not only reinforces his determination to keep grinding but it also fuels the community around him with just two simple motivational words – ‘Stay Up!’

The Jae Synth directed video takes us on a journey with JDK as he keeps satisfying his appetite for success. At the same time, he also supports other like minded individuals on the grind. At the end of the video, he reminds us that although there is desire and determination, sometimes we need support to ‘stay up.’ A humbling and real message closes the video to remind us about the realness of homelessness, drug addition and mental health. Make sure to check it out.
