The Bay Area Wins! – E-40 and Too Short Verzuz Battle

First-off, this was a party more than a battle. Thank you E-40 and Too Short for taking an OG Northern Cali hip-hop fan like myself back! Pairing these two Bay Area rap legends together for the last Vezuz of 2020 was epic.
The music to the stage setup captured the soul of the Bay. The old-school rides sitting on ‘trus and vogues’ in the background complemented by the Oakland/Vallejo street sign were classic. Even Puffy got in on the hype by providing some chips to promote his Ciroc vodka product. Not to be outdone, E-40 walked out on stage with his Tycoon cognac and consistently sipped away on a bottle throughout the event.
The music was filled with a wide range of cult classics; platinum hits; and celebrity duos. It was an incredible experience! Too Short started with “Freaky Tales” and E-40 followed with ‘Mr. Flamboyant’. At that point you knew you were in for a treat. It was all love for most of the nearly 4-hour party. Too-Short and E-4o shared stories of honor, friendship and respect for their individual success. But the Bay Area love turned into a playful battle of the hits after too many shots of Ciroc and Tycoon cognac. It was like watching two drunk uncles fighting for their turn to control the music at the family cookout. Regardless, it was a wonderful Saturday night treat during the Christmas Covid-19 lockdown.
Thank you Swizz Beats and Timbaland for your Verzuz vision. Please keep giving us these classic match-ups. I’m hoping Vezuz is here to stay!
