Brand Nubian
Everything Is Everything
Production: Lord Jamar, Buckwild
Elektra
The gods from Now Rule have returned in 1994 with their third LP. Brand Nubian has a history of dropping dope singles before the album and Word Is Bond was no exception. You can’t judge an album by it’s fist single though but don’t get it twisted cuz Everything Is Everything is dope but in a different way than before. Most of the 15 of 16 tracks were produced by Lord Jamar himself, while the Sadat X solo track “Alladat” (featuring Busta Rhymes), was produced by Buckwild. Brand Nubian fans will notice a different sound from All For One and In God We Trust.
The track “Nubian Jam” should raise some eyebrows with it’s R&B flavor. The hard rhymes are still there like before. Songs like “Straight Off the Head” is a track where the title speaks for itself. Check lord J’s second verse, it’ll have you weak. Subject matter ranges from words on the five percent to police brutality. Tracks to check for are: “Step into Da Cipher,” ‘Gang Bang,” “Claimin’ I’m a Criminal,” and the Lord Jamar solo cut “Return of the Dread.” While not as moving as the first two LPs, Everything Is Everything is dope nonetheless and should not be slept on.
